I have a 1995 Land Rover Discovery V8i - I'm taking it on a 2 month road trip through Australia and I'm worried the cigarette lighter socket might not last the journey. I need it for a power inverter and a 12v fridge (alternately) but I have little/no knowledge of auto electrics.
The question: is there a safe and easy way to install a second cigarette lighter socket direct from the battery/fuse box?
Thanks in advance!|||buy the lighter socket at auto parts store. buy 30amp fuse and holder. connect fuse to + bat terminal and other end to wire to lighter socket. you could use 30 amp circuit breaker instead of fuses. circuit breaker will reset itself. make sure you take extra fuses. take extra stuff just incase. sounds like fun.|||Auto supply should have a kit that contains the lighter and necessary wiring plus a mounting bracket so it can be mounted under the dash or somewhere handy.|||ya u can do it or just get a spare one
