How do I open the trunk of a 97 range rover without power?

Trying to get some replacement parts for my wife's range rover and I noticed that it is visibly impossible for me to get into the truck compartment without having power. Does anyone know of how I can open this without power? there is no key way and I can not find the emergency latch.|||Can you not hook up power somewhere else? If you connect a battery to the vehicle, will it work? I don't understand why there is no back-up.|||the latch is on the side of the wheel ,left.
