How much would it cost to fix a Land Rover?

I need to replace a front quarter panel, a rear quarter panel and both bumbers(the back one has back up sensors on it.) can some one give me an idea on how much that would cost to fix with labor???? please. And it is a 2003 Land Rover Discovery HSE7.|||The name Land Rover automatically makes it more expensive. For all that work I would say about 3,000.|||you are looking at least 2 grand !!|||REPLACE the fender, rear quarter panel, and both bumpers including the sensors? On a Disco?

I bet it's $4K or more by the time the body work and paint are done. Quotes from reputable body shops are fairly quick, pretty accurate, and (perhaps most importantly) FREE.|||Actually, it can be very cheap. Check out the Roverguy website. He is a great guy, who parts out Land Rovers. The front fender is obscenely easy to replace, and provided he has the right color hanging around, you can do it yourself if you have a decent set of sockets around with an extension for getting between the door hinges. It is pretty much simply bolted on with lots and lots of hardware, but it is all easy to remove and replace.

The bumpers are easy as well. Discoweb always has someone available with a factory front bumper. They go for absolute peanuts around the enthusiast forums. We get rid of them on most of the Rovers we get, in favor of bull bars and winch bumpers. We have little use for the factory stuff, and it is frequently offered at a low price or for free. The rear bumpers are available most of the time as well, and because of shipping hassles, generally they go to whoever comes by and picks them up. They can be shipped, though, and you end up getting a good price.

As for the rear quarter panel, that is separate as well, but it does have a few spot welds in there to reduce rattles, so it is more of a professional's job to tinker with it.

The front fender, front bumper, and rear bumper, however, can be sourced used, and swapped out by anyone with a Sears nearby and access to a computer.

Getting them used is BETTER than getting the replacement panels in the black and having them painted. Paint never matches properly unless mixed in a huge batch like Rover does it. It also fades over time, especially if it is a darker color. Silver tends to flat out change color. Getting a painted panel that has been around as long as your vehicle ensures that the paint will match perfectly. It will also be much, much cheaper. As for the bumpers, that black trim fades over time. It fades on the wheel arches, door handles and everywhere else. A new bumper with new black trim will make the rest look like crap. You really want to go used here.

The Rover primer is very good stuff, and so is their paint. It is good to use a normal used panel where you can. As for the quarter, I'd have to see a picture to see what you can get away with.

Go see the Roverguy, though, and call him. Don't let his phone manners fool you. He is 100 percent reliable, and has forgotten more about Land Rovers than most at the dealership will ever know. I've met him in person, and he is a really nice guy with a great shop just chock full of all sorts of Rover stuff. I could have spend days there.

In the Rover community, that man is the messiah. If he doesn't have a matching panel, check Ebay and the Discoweb classifieds. Oh, discoweb is a .org, not a .com. Read a bit on the site before you post, though, and everyone will be friendly. These are VAST resources with answers to every question you could possible have, where people will take the time to walk you through just about anything so long as you have read the site and take the time to learn.

If you just show up at a body shop to have this done, you will pay thousands of dollars for it. You can do most of it yourself for a few hundred. Take your pick. It isn't hard to do, and there are people out there who will do everything they can to help you, just as long as you are willing to learn.

Check out Roverguy, like I said. Many answers will go on about how much this all costs because some guy wrecked his Taurus a while back. This ain't no Taurus. Rover people help each other out.

Cheers,

Kennith
